Clydebank College

In for a close shave!

Two Clydebank College students braved it and got their locks chopped off for charity.

Mandy Thomson, 33 from Yoker who studies hairdressing and her auntie Annmarie Buchan 46 from Renfrew who is studying the Access to Social Work course lobbed their locks in the college for the November UK Charity for Prostate Cancer.

Annmarie said, ‘We have had a lot family affected by cancer and we thought we would do some fundraising to support this lesser publicised cancer. We want to help raise awareness for men that are affected with prostate cancer.’

Mandy added, ‘We wanted to show that positive thinking is a good way to dealing with treatment and hair is hair, it will grow back. Anne Marie and I have fundraised in many different ways but we thought we do the head shave as we know for many people the prospect of losing their hair is very traumatic.

Both women would like to say a big thank you to the college and in particular the hairdressing students that lobbed their locks!

Together both the women have raised over £1k and the total is rising every day.

A special thanks goes to BMCD (Brian McDougall) in Renfrew, Inchinnan Social Club and any one else who dug deep to sponsor the girls. Further donations can still be made at HTTP://UKMOVEMBER.COM/MOSPACE/287854
